Please continue to pray for the health of our family. Several of us are not feeling well and running fevers. We need strength to finish our time of ministry here.
We visited Cheshire home this morning, which is a medical rehabilitation facility for orphans and children who cannot afford medical care. It is run by the Catholics and is very well cared for. There were about 53 children there; some have cerebral palsy, some are mentally retarded, many of them have had a club foot repaired. The saddest thing is that some of these children are so old by the time they receive care, that some of their limbs must be amputated and they are given prosthetics. In more developed countries, some of these issues would have been corrected when the child was very young without a need for surgery.
They brought them into two classrooms and allowed us to sing, give the plan of salvation, and make a toy with them. Many of you have seen us in churches when we were talking about going to orphanages in Africa. We showed you a toy made from a plastic cup, a string, and a bead tied to the end. The object is to get the bead into the cup by swinging the cup back and forth. Well, we took the supplies to the orphanage and were able to help each child make one. They were so excited. They have very few things that they can call their very own. The children were precious and we spent the whole morning with them. We pray that they will always remember what we told them, "Jesus Loves you."
